FAQ General Questions

What kind of Products does C&H Carports Offer?

We offer modularly-built/prefabricated metal carports, enclosed garages, RV shelters and covers, barns, clear-span metal shelters and buildings, and other custom buildings. Our company has many years in the metal building industry. We provide the highest quality components that are installed by skilled, experienced installation contractors

Is C&H Carports a manufacturer or is C&H a dealer for a manufacturer?

C&H Carports is a manufacturer with corporate offices and a manufacturing facility in Emory, Texas. We have authorized dealers that sell our products throughout East Texas, Southeast Oklahoma, and Western Louisiana.

What Types of Materials Are Used to Make the Buildings?

All of your products are manufactured with high-quality American-Made steel. The framing components consist of galvanized 14 gauge 2 ½” x 2 ½” square tubing or the optional 2 ¼” x 2 ¼” square tubing. Our exterior panels are the painted 29 gauge steel.

How Long Does It Take to Get My Building?

Most installation occur 2-5 weeks (weather permitting) after your order is placed. Call us for the most accurate delivery in your area.

What Should I Do before Installation?

First, for best results, your site should be level. We advise that you also call 811 to ensure that there are no underground utilities under the site one which we will install the building. In addition, there should be ample clearance from overhead power lines. Lastly, it is best to call your local building inspections department to see if you need a building permit at your location.

What is a Building Permit and Do I Need One?

In some areas, cities and counties have jurisdiction over building construction and building installation. It is best to check with your building inspection department for your location. They may require that the unit be built to certain specifications. A permit, if required, is an official document that authorizes the commencement of construction or a building or addition. Not all areas require it, but be advised that some do.

Can I Order additions to the Building after it is Installed?

In most situations, such as side walls and end walls, yes. Be advised that a return trip fee may or may not apply, depending on the size of the addition.

Do You Provide Concrete Pads and What Size Should It Be?

We do not provide concrete pads. The size of your concrete slab should be the exact stated width on the order and 1’ shorter than the stated length. The industry references to dimensions are base width and roof length. For example, if you ordered a 22’ Wide x 36’ long unit, the concrete pade should be 22’ wide x 35’ long.

FAQ PRODUCT AND ORDERING QUESTIONS

What are the Maximum Dimensions of the Buildings that are Available?

Our maximum width is 40’ wide. There is no limit to the length of the units that we provide. We can construct units up to 14’ tall at this time.

What is Engineer Certification and Why Would I Need It?

Two classifications of structures are offered by C&H Carports Engineer Certified Structures are built to meet certain wind and/or show load specifications. Many cities or counties that require a building permit, also require the unit to be built to wind/snow specifications. Non-Certified buildings are not certified by a Professional Engineer, and thus have to rating. In general, certified units tend to have more screws, bracing, and more substantial anchors as compared to non-certified units.

What are the Differences in the 14 Gauge and 12 Gauge Frame?

C&H’s standard frame utilizes the 14 gauge galvanized steel. The galvanized 12 gauge frame is about 35% thicker than the 14 gauge. In addition, the 12 gauge frame features our limited 20 year rust-through warranty and the 14 gauge does not.

What Does it Take to Get My Order Started?

A small down payment, usually 10% will get your order started. The balance is paid after the unit is installed.

Once the Order is Placed, Can the Order be Changed?

For most buildings, yes. If the unit is greater than 30’ wide, you should call to see if the order has been built.  If we have already scheduled your installation with you, it cannot be changed.

FAQ INSTALLATION AND DELIVERY

How Long Does it Take to Install the Unit?

It depends on the size of the unit. A small carport can take as little as an hour and a large unit can take 2-3. Call us and we will advise, based on the size of the unit.

Are there Installation Charges or Additional Fees?

Generally, no. If our installation teams arrive and you site is not level and they have to level the site or cut the legs in order to install the unit on the site, then labor fees would apply. If we have to install the unit over an obstruction, such as an RV or compressor, additional fees would apply. If the unit is to be installed on a dry dock or on an elevated wall, additional fees would apply. Call us if you have questions regarding any concerns that you might have.

Could I Modify the Color or Change the Roof System after the Crew Arrives?

Unfortunately, no. We manufacture the unit using modular construction at our shop. The crew has no way to make changes to your unit on site nor do they have other colors in their inventory of components.

When Do I pay the Balance for my Unit?

After the unit is installed, you should pay the balance at that time.
